Frequently asked questions

What changes on October 7?

Before, if the change didn't affect the first coupon, or if travel had already started, you repriced using the original issue date (historical reissue). Now you always price with the fares available on the reissue date. The only thing kept is the flown segment, and only if the change meets its fare conditions.

I reissue manually in a GDS. Which date do I price with?

Today's date, the day of the reissue. Don't look up the original issue date anymore, even if you're only changing the second segment.

Can I change to a cheaper fare?

Yes. You can choose any available fare, higher or lower. If it's lower, the simulator tells you whether it generates a residual value: it depends on whether the fare you're changing is refundable or not.

If there's a residual value, how is it refunded?

For reissues with a residual value, contact Global Sales Support: they'll handle the reissue and issue an EMD for the residual value in the passenger's favor. The only exception is reissues via NDC in Chile, Colombia and Peru: you complete them directly in the portal, and the refund goes automatically to the ticket's original form of payment.

What if the ticket combines refundable and non-refundable fares?

On domestic flights, each coupon's own conditions apply. On international flights, the most restrictive condition applies: if a non-refundable fare is included, no residual value is generated. If you're only changing one segment, that segment's fare applies.

What happens to the taxes on the flown segment?

If the change meets that segment's fare conditions, its fare and taxes stay the same. If it doesn't, the whole journey is repriced.

Can I change the fare family (brand)?

Yes. We recommend keeping the same fare family so your customer keeps the benefits they already had.

What about tickets issued before October 7?

They follow the previous rule: exchange reissue if travel hasn't started and the change affects the first coupon, and historical reissue in all other cases.
