CODESHARE - Updated procedure for codeshare flights with American Airlines

Due to the end of the codeshare agreement between LATAM and American Airlines on January 31, 2020, an update is added to the protection procedure for codeshare LA* flights operated by American Airlines (AA).

LATAM tickets containing LA* codeshare flights operated by American Airlines (AA) for travel as from 01 February 2020.

Implementation date:

- Reservations issued on codeshare LA* flights, operated by American Airlines (AA), with flights from February 1, 2020, must be reissued as invol (involuntary reissue) by travel agents, provided the original itinerary is maintained for AA flights in the original ticketed class. If the class is not available, the flight may be protected in the lowest booking class available in the original cabin.

- Tickets may be reissued in advance (regardless of whether the original codeshare flight has been canceled or not).

- Consider the following when processing the involuntary reissue:

  • Complete the flight change and the involuntary reissue simultaneously.
  • Maintain the original fare construction.
  • The change applies without penalty.
  • Add the following mandatory note in the ticket Endorsement box:  INVOL CHG DUE TO LA CSH FLT CNLD

- In cases where there is no availability on 100% American Airlines (AA) flights, a protection alternative may be offered.

- Starting January 12, 2020, the codeshare flight will be canceled in the reservation and the Travel Agency will be notified automatically so that it can take action (take 100% AA flight segment). The message in the reservation will indicate: SC REAC.

- Starting 15 January 2020, LATAM will begin reissuing tickets for which the agencies have not  taken action, therefore, these tickets will be under LATAM control. The intervened reservations will have the following message: ROBOT PROTECCIONES LATAM.
