BAGGAGE - New baggage allowance on routes to/from North America and Africa

Description:

Baggage allowance standardization by Brand on all routes to/from the United States/Canada and from/to Africa

Scope:

New baggage allowance on routes between:

-       South America and USA/Canada: Light and Plus Brands (Economy and Premium Economy)

-       Colombia and USA/Canada: Promo, Light and Plus Brands

-       Central America/Caribbean and USA/Canada: Promo, Light and Plus Brands

-       South America and Africa: Promo, Light Plus Brands.

Implementation date:

Applies to all tickets issued and flights operated as from February 27, 2020.

Considerations:

The table below shows the new baggage allowance by Brand for all routes between:

-       South America and USA/Canada

-       Central America and USA/Canada

-       Caribbean and USA/Canada

-       South America and Africa

The Premium Business cabin and the Top brand in Premium Economy retain the allowance of 3 pieces up to 23 kg each.

 

 

Please remember that for those Brands that do not include checked baggage as an attribute, indirect sales tickets will have the baggage box unmarked (no information).

 

These Brands will not include the “baggage” attribute, although checked bags may be purchased from the moment of ticketing until the day of travel.

 

Checked bags are not available for purchase at latam.com, CTO or CC if the ticket is issued by another carrier and/or if the itinerary contains segments on other carriers (codeshare or interline segments). In these cases, customers must be informed that the bag must be purchased on the day of travel directly at the Airport Ticket Office. These customers must be charged the lowest amount in the price range closest to flight departure date.

Exception:

Processing requests for changing tickets issued before the new baggage allowance on these routes

 

For customers with a ticket issued before the new baggage allowance who have not commenced their trip yet but request a change after the new allowance date, if the ticket was reissued as exchange, the new ticket may not indicate the original allowance.

 

In such cases, if it is determined that the original ticket allowed some checked baggage, the travel agent must contact the local travel agency service agent to have the 01 PC or 02 PC baggage waiver entered in the reservation.
