21/08/24 Passenger Protección - Suspension of Santiago (SCL) ⇄ Valdivia (ZAL) Route


Due to conservation works, we inform you the temporary closure of Valdivia Airport (ZAL) and the suspension of the Santiago (SCL) ⇄ Valdivia (ZAL) route. The route suspension will occur in three distinct periods as described below.

Canceled flights:

Starting from November 2024, the following flights will be canceled.

 

Period from November 20th to December 10th, 2024: During this period, Valdivia Airport (ZAL) will not have active operations on any day of the week.

 

  • LA 41/43/45/239: Santiago (SCL) → Valdivia (ZAL)
  • LA 40/42/44/238: Valdivia (ZAL) → Santiago (SCL)

 

Period from January 7th, 2025, until August 7th, 2025: operations will resume only on Mondays, Fridays, and weekends.

Proposed protection:

  • In all cases, protection should be provided on LATAM flights

 

  • On days when there is no operation, flights will be automatically protected to Temuco Airport (ZCO). For cases of non-automatic protection, you can choose Temuco (ZCO) and Osorno (ZOS) airports.

 

  • Change to a nearby airport:

 

o   Maximum distance of 500 km (300 miles) from the protected airport, within the same country and where LATAM operates, in the same class or the lowest available class of the original cabin.

 

o   Suggested airports: Temuco (ZCO) and Osorno (ZOS).

Reservation management:

In a centralized manner, an alternative travel option will be provided to affected passengers

 

  • The November 20th to December 10th, 2024 periodhas been automatically protected to Temuco Airport (ZCO), except on the first and last day of closure

 

  • For the January 7th, 2025, to August 7th, 2025 period, on days when there is operation, protection will be provided via Valdivia Airport (ZAL)

 

  • Reissue will be done without penalty or fare difference (subject to the same cabin), according to the following

 

o   Protection applies only on LATAM flights and must be done based on availability of the original cabin, in the lowest available class. 

 

o   Reissue will be done involuntarily, maintaining the original fare basis and fare structure.

 

Passengers who do not accept the proposed protection can use the same flexibilities defined in Passenger Protección.
