PASSENGER PROTECTION - Update temporary suspension of routes from/to Porto Alegre (POA)


Due to the adverse weather conditions that are affecting the south of Brazil, the operation to/from the Porto Alegre airport (POA) has been temporarily suspended, affecting flights scheduled until October 26, 2024. In addition to the existing protection options, to change flights to POA to Canoas Airport (QNS) in Porto Alegre and the non-consecutive use of coupons for international itineraries has been added

Canceled flights:

From/to Porto Alegre (POA)

Proposed protection:

  • Change to alternative airport Canoas (QNS)
  • Change to a nearby airport
  • Non-Consecutive use of coupons
  • Involuntary refund

Reservation management:

Customers affected by this suspension may choose to be protected at the alternative Canoas airport or one of the following travel solutions:

Change to a nearby airport:

No penalty or fare difference (subject to the same cabin) according to the following:

  • The change must be to an airport within 500 km of the original airport.
  • Airports authorized as an alternative to POA:
    • (CXJ), (PFB), (FLN), (JJG), (NVT), (XAP), (JOI), (CWB), (IGU), (QNS)
  • The protection must be carried out according to the availability of the original cabin, in the lowest available class.
  • The reissuance must be processed as involuntary, maintaining the original fare basis and fare construction.

Affected customers who have already reissued their ticket to an alternative airport until  May 22, 2024, and who wish to opt for a change to the new Canoas airport (QNS), will be able to do so without penalty or fare difference as an involuntary reissue.

Non-consecutive use of coupons:

Passengers with international flights connecting with canceled flights from/to Porto Alegre (POA) who decide to travel only up to the connection point, may do so. The segment with origin or destination Porto Alegre should remain in the PNR and the ticket should not be reissued. The refund should be processed after completing the journey.

Involuntary refund

Passengers who do not accept the protection may opt for the involuntary refund established in the Sales | Passenger Protection chapter.

Agents will be able to take action on reservations even if the segments have not yet been canceled.

Notification to affected passengers will be made progressively.
