- The correction is allowed only once per ticket.
- Corrections are permitted only for reservations with issued tickets, except for reservations associated with the Group policy, which you can verify here.
- Applies to unused or partially used LATAM ticket stocks
- For reservations with Other Airlines (OA), you must request confirmation of the correction independently from each airline. See exceptions for itineraries with LATAM and Delta flights.
- The reissue process must maintain the original ticket's issuing carrier (LATAM).
- The reissue will be performed "historically," without a penalty or fare difference (see exception for codeshare flights and other airlines).
- This correction should not imply a passenger change, i.e., the same passenger from the original reservation must be the traveler.
- Depending on the type of correction, supporting documents may be required, which must be forwarded to Global Sales Support (GSS) in accordance with the established procedure.
- When there is an error in the name/surname and in the travel document, the travel agent must contact their Global Sales Support agent.
- For reservations with more than one passenger, only the passenger who requires a name correction must be separated (split the reservation) before starting the correction process.
- GDS information: In case of operational questions about tickets and reservations made in GDS systems, the travel agent must contact the Help Desk of their GDS.
LATAM Airlines allows you to correct the name on a ticketed reservation in the event of an error. It is important that the ticket be reissued to ensure that it is consistent with the travel document and that your customers can access all the benefits that LATAM has available to them based on this information.
Here are the most important points to keep in mind when making this type of correction:
Depending on the necessary correction type, the agent may work within the same reservation or through a new one, as explained below.
- Only corrections of 3 characters or less are allowed (other types of corrections must be worked on in new PNRs)
- Only corrections of 3 characters or less are allowed. (Other types of corrections must be worked on in new PNRs.)
- Corrections are only allowed for reservations with a ticket issued.
- Corrections are only allowed for reservations with 100% LATAM itineraries (marketing and operating). They must not include flights with Other Airlines (OA). See exceptions for itineraries with LATAM and Delta flights.
- Corrections are only allowed once per PNR.
- Only if the reservation is made via GDS.
- Only if it is an individual reservation (not a group reservation).
- These changes are not allowed within the operational window (48 hours before the flight), as after this time the reservation enters airport control. In these cases, it is necessary to work with a new PNR and contact GSS LATAM.
- The number of characters that have been modified.
- The order of the characters that have been modified.
LATAM Airlines allows you to make name corrections within the same reservation in GDS (Sabre, Amadeus, Travelport) only if the correction is minor and does not exceed 3 characters, changes the passenger or gender. To do this, you must keep the following points in mind:
IMPORTANT: Once the name correction has been made, the ticket must be reissued immediately.

Process for Name Correction within the Same Reservation
(3 Characters or Less in GDS)
To make this type of correction, the agent must make the necessary changes to the passenger's name or surname (1, 2, or 3 characters) in the original reservation, followed by the reissuance of the ticket as a "historical reissue." It is important to support this reissue with the "NM CORRECTION" endorsement, which must be entered in the ticket endorsement field. After a name correction, the ticket must be reissued immediately.
LATAM Airlines uses an algorithm to compare the original name with the corrected name. This algorithm takes into account two factors:
Examples:
a).
Original First Name/Last Name: [S, A, N, T, H, O, S, S]
Corrected First Name/Last Name: [S, A, N, T, O, S]
In this case, the correction involves the removal of 2 characters from the last name (H, S) and doesn’t alter the original order of the remaining characters. Therefore, the system would not cancel the reservation.

b).
Original First Name/Last Name: [S, A, N, C, E, H, S]
Corrected First Name/Last Name: [S, A, N, C, H, E, Z]
In this example, the correction does not exceed 3 characters, maintains its length, and does not change the original order of the remaining characters. Therefore, the system would not cancel the reservation.

Original First Name/Last Name: [M, A, U, R, I, O]
Corrected First Name/Last Name: [M, A, U, R, I, C, C, I, O]
In this third example, 1 letter was modified and 3 others were added to the name, for a total of 4 changed characters. Therefore, the system would consider this an UNAUTHORIZED correction and proceed to cancel the LA segments of the reservation.

Corrected First Name/Last Name: [M, C, I, N, T, Y, R, E / J, O, S, E, P, H]
In this case, a total of 4 characters have been changed: 1 letter (E) and 1 space were deleted from the surname, and 2 more characters were corrected from the name (H, P). Therefore, according to the criteria of the algorithm, this correction would not be considered valid and the system would proceed to cancel the LA segments of the reservation.

When the algorithm detects that the correction involves more than 3 characters, changes the extension, or that the order of the characters has been altered beyond the range, LATAM will identify it and add the following note to the reservation: "INVALID CHANGE NAME DETECTED - CANCEL PNR". All LATAM segments will be automatically canceled.
IMPORTANT: After an invalid name correction and the cancellation of segments, the PNR should not be used again, at least for LATAM segments. A new reservation must be created to resume LATAM spaces according to the current availability and to be priced accordingly.
- Open a request in the LATAM Trade Private Portal at: Waivers > Post-Sale Waiver Request > Waiver Type: Correct Name > Name Correction Exception.
- Attach passenger documents and provide both reservation codes (Original and New).
- Contact GSS LATAM through the Support Chat located at latamtrade.com, selecting the "Operational Requests" option.
- The travel agent must have the new reservation already generated, spaces already taken, and supporting documentation available as appropriate. This documentation may be requested to be sent via email by the GSS LATAM support agent during the interaction.
- Open a request in the LATAM Trade Private Portal at: Waivers > Post-Sale Waiver Request > Waiver Type: Correct Name > Name Correction Exception.

- The travel agent must have the new reservation already generated, spaces already taken, and supporting documentation available as appropriate. This documentation will be requested to be sent via email by the GSS LATAM support agent during the interaction.
LATAM Airlines also allows name corrections in the following scenarios, however, these must be made through a new reservation - in some cases, supporting documentation may be required. If there are no available seats in the same booking class, the travel agent must contact GSS LATAM, as explained further in this procedure.

Process for Name Correction in a New Reservation
The travel agent must create a new reservation with the correct name, maintaining the same booking class and flight of the original reservation. If the same class is not available, please refer to the Process for Booking Class Request section below. The original ticket must then be reissued (historical reissue) without applying a penalty or fare difference.
It is important to support this reissue with the message "NM CORRECTION" which must be entered in the endorsement field of the ticket.
To avoid duplication and the cancellation of the new reservation with the corrected name, it is necessary to cancel the original reservation after the ticket has been reissued.
Process for Booking Class Request (GSS LATAM)
If the original booking class for LATAM segments is closed, the travel agent can book in the lowest available class of the same cabin and on the original flight. Then, the travel agent can request confirmation of the original booking class from GSS LATAM through the following flow:
For agencies WITH access to the LATAM Trade Private Portal:
For agencies WITHOUT access to the LATAM Trade Private Portal:
Reservation with LA + OLA Segments (Except Delta Airlines)
For reservations containing both LA (LATAM Airlines) and OLA (Other Airlines) flights, travel agents must create a new reservation with the corrected name. They should use the original classes from the issued ticket. If the original classes are not available, the travel agent must book in the lowest available class and request confirmation of spaces from each airline on the itinerary independently, which can be approved or denied by the respective carrier.
Here are some scenarios that may clarify the procedure in these situations:
Scenario 1: Original classes available on both LATAM and OLA flights (LA stock)
If all airlines on the itinerary have the original booking class available for reservation, the travel agent will proceed to reissue the ticket as a historical reissue. In this case, no penalties will apply and there will be no fare difference, so it is essential to support the reissue by entering the message "NM CORRECTION" in the ticket endorsement field.
Scenario 2: Original booking classes not available on LATAM or OLA flights (LA stock)
If all or some of the airlines on the itinerary do not have the original booking class available, the travel agent will proceed to book in the lowest available class for the same cabin (both LATAM and OLA). Afterward, they should contact the respective airlines to request a class change to the original booking class. Once the original classes are confirmed, the ticket must be reissued as a historical reissue. In this case, no penalties will apply and there will be no fare difference, so it is essential to support the reissue by entering the message "NM CORRECTION" in the ticket endorsement field.
Scenario 3: Confirmed Spaces on LA and Unconfirmed Spaces on OLA flights (LA Stock)
If confirmation of the original classes on the OLA flights cannot be obtained, the travel agent must select the lowest available and combinable class on these flights in their system and proceed with the automatic reissue, assuming any fare differences that may arise between the original itinerary and the new alternative.
Careful attention is needed when choosing new classes for the OLA flights, as they must be compatible with the original class on the LA segment. If the automatic fare calculation fails, find a compatible combination of classes to allow for reissue. No penalty will apply, so remember to add the message "NM CORRECTION" to the ticket endorsement field to support this reissue.
Name Corrections that Require Waivers

8. Change of name and/or surname (legal determination), presenting official documents that corroborate it. By adoption, marriage, divorce, gender changes, etc.: If this type of name change also involves a change in the travel document, the name correction can be made with the respective supporting documentation. |
ROCHAM/MARIA for GUEDES/MARIA TORRES/ALICIA for DE PEREZ/ALICIA IMPORTANT: This reissue process requires a waiver. |
YES Document proving the identity of the original full name + Document proving the new full name. E.g.: passports, identity cards, etc. |
|
9. Other cases of name correction where it is proven that it is the original passenger. |
MARTINES ELIONOR/ANA MARTINEZ / ALIENOR ANA IMPORTANT: This reissue process requires a waiver. |
YES Document proving the identity of the original passenger (e.g. passport, IC, etc.) |
If the name correction requires a waiver (points 8 and 9 of the table), the travel agent must follow the following correction process:
For agencies WITH access to the LATAM Trade Private Portal:
For agencies WITHOUT access to the LATAM Trade Private Portal:
Once LATAM generates the waiver, the travel agent can proceed with the ticket reissue, entering the provided waiver code in the ticket endorsement field. If the itinerary includes OLA segments, follow the procedure outlined for such cases.
IMPORTANT: It is mandatory to request the waiver on the same day that the reissue is made.
- Enter an OSI in the PNR: NM CORRECTION FROM XXXX TO XXXX" (original FIRST or SURNAME BY new FIRST or SURNAME). example: NM CORRECTION FROM SANTES TO SANDOH
- Enter standard text in Ticket Endorsements/Restrictions: NM Correction

GDS Agencies: |
The correction is made to the original reservation when the flight is more than 48 hours away from departure. If the flight is within 48 hours of departure, a new reservation must be created with the correct name. |
A new reservation must be created with the correct name |
NDC Agencies: |
For all cases of correction indicated in the policy, travel agents must contact GSS LATAM to request a name/last name correction and to reissue the ticket, send the corresponding supporting documentation and request authorization (waiver) in appropriate cases. |
|
DCP Agencies: |
For all correction cases indicated in the policy, travel agents may perform the name correction in a new PNR and reissue the ticket. Before reissuing, they must send the corresponding supporting documentation to the GSS and request authorization (waiver) in appropriate cases. |
When the reissue is made on the same reservation, the travel agent must always reissue the ticket, performing a historical reissue.
When the correction is made in a new reservation, the original class and flight are maintained. If the class of the flight(s) is not available (LA or DL), you must reserve in the lowest available class and then contact GSS to request the original class. Once the original class is confirmed, you can proceed to reissue the ticket free of fare difference and penalty. These cases must be requested with supporting documentation.
All name corrections must include support for the correction:
For name corrections that are not included in the table, the travel agent must request that the passenger provide a copy of their travel document that supports the correction to be made. The request should detail the incorrect name/surname and the correct name/surname of the passenger.
Once the travel agent has this documentation, they must create a new reservation with the name to be corrected and contact the LATAM Global Sales Support team. The team will review each case individually and, if approved, will send the waiver code, which must be included in the ticket endorsement field.
At this time, this function is not available in our NDC by LATAM Portal / API. Any changes to this condition will be announced in a timely manner.
Should you require a name correction, we kindly ask you to reach out to LATAM's Global Sales Support via our preferred service channel: the chat available on the LATAM Trade portal (in addition to our standard service channels). Our team will ensure the processing of your request in your purchase order.
