Description | Due to operational needs on the routes between Guayaquil (GYE) and New York (JFK) and between Quito (UIO) and Miami (MIA), starting December 15, 2025, Oversized baggage (more than 158 linear cm) and special baggage will not be allowed, and there is also a maximum checked baggage limit per passenger due to operational capacity. This limit considers the sum of the baggage included in the ticket and any additional baggage. - Premium Economy cabin: 2 checked baggage pieces - Economy cabin: 1 checked baggage piece The maximum allowed includes the baggage allowance of the purchased fare plus any additional pieces bought (EMD). Example: A passenger with the “Premium Economy Full” fare, which includes 1 PC per brand, may only purchase 1 additional bag to carry a maximum of 2 pieces when traveling in Premium Economy. Additional baggage from elite categories, credit cards, mobility aids (e.g., walker), and special baggage will not be counted toward the maximum limit. | ||||||

Considerations: | Passengers who showed up at the airport but were not boarded for exceeding the number of checked baggage pieces permitted for the route: it has been decided to allow refunds of the issued EMDs under certain conditions: - The EMD must have been issued by December 15, 2025. - Boarding must have been denied at the airport. - The reservation must include a record of the denied boarding by the airport indicating the reason (SSR CMNT: DNB X BAG). If these conditions are met, a refund of the issued baggage EMDs may be requested in accordance with the rules of the flight coupon to which they are associated.
For EMDs issued after December 16, 2025, or those that do not have the airport message indicating denied boarding, they must be processed according to the regulations of the purchased fare. | ||||||
