The transport of deported or detained passengers follows strict international regulations and LATAM’s internal safety standards. This chapter provides clear guidance on how to handle cases where government authorities request the travel of a deported or detained person, with or without escorts. |
A deportee is someone who, after having entered a country legally or illegally, receives an order from the immigration authority to leave the country preventing his return for a certain period of time, for having incurred some offense against the established immigration law.
The immigration authority that orders the transfer of a deportee is responsible for providing the ticket for their trip and defining the destination of the passenger, which is usually their country of origin or provenance or any third country that admits it.
Local authorities or corporate security may define whether the deportee must travel with or without escorts:
This service is available subject to the current regulations of each country, internal requirements and availability that allow the service to be carried out, and must meet at least the following conditions:
The DEPU / DEPA service must be requested through Global Sales Support at least 48 business hours before the flight departure. If the request is made outside this period, we will not be able to guarantee confirmation of the service
To make the request, the travel agent must send:
All these documents must be sent in PDF format and in a single file.
The authority in charge must complete the form required for risk assessment. This authority guarantees that all civil aviation safety regulations and safety programs applicable to LATAM group airlines are met.
A new digital form has been implemented for the submission of requests and the analysis of deported passengers, allowing the competent authorities to contact directly the area responsible for risk analysis to authorize or deny boarding and the reservation, for both the transportation request of deported passengers and the submission of documentation.
The request will be managed as follows:
- The responsible authority will request the travel agency to create the reservation for the deported passenger and any escorts (if applicable).
- Upon receiving the request, the travel agency will create the reservation with the corresponding flights and will include the OSI and the IATA code to prevent itinerary cancellation. Example: OSI DEPA48 IATA 12345678.
The OSI mentioned must be used exclusively for this type of request.
- After receiving the created reservation, the entity must contact the Corporate Security department to request the form for the submission and analysis of the deported passenger’s documentation.
After analyzing the information and documents, the responsible team will respond with boarding authorization or denial within up to 48 hours (business days).
Once validation and confirmation of the SSR DEPA/DEPU service have been completed, ticket issuance must be carried out directly with the travel agency.
