UNACCOMPANIED MINOR - Request for Unaccompanied Minor Service on Already Issued Tickets


Due to the Unaccompanied Minor (UMNR) service being subject to availability, it is not possible to guarantee the delivery of the service once the ticket has been issued; therefore, the UMNR service must always be confirmed first, and then the ticket can be issued. However, in the event that the service is requested after the ticket has been issued and the child's age allows for the optional service (between 12 and 17 years old), the request for the service can be processed.


Request for Unaccompanied Minor (UMNR) service for ages where it is optional and the customer already has an issued ticket.

Unaccompanied Minor Service: The travel agent must verify the availability of the service on the original flight.

If there is availability for the Unaccompanied Minor (UMNR) service, the process is as follows depending on the distribution system:

Contact the Global Sales Support LATAM team to enter the service request, confirm the service, and issue the EMD for the UMNR service.

Enter the request through your GDS and wait for confirmation of the service.

Then, the travel agent can issue the EMD for the UMNR service.


Considerations for seats:


Due to safety concerns, minors must be seated in aisle seats in the penultimate and antepenultimate rows of the cabin and as close together as possible to facilitate their supervision. These seats are assigned at no cost.


If the service is confirmed and the customer had paid for a seat, the paid amount will be refunded, and seats specifically designated for unaccompanied minors will be assigned. To do this, the travel agent must:

  • Verify that the customer paid for a seat.
  • Request the refund before the flight departure, otherwise, it will be rejected.
  • The EMD must be in OK status (not used).

Contact the Global Sales Support LATAM team to request the refund of the EMD-A and the assignment of the seat at no cost.

Enter the EMD-A for refund through your GDS.

Contact the Global Sales Support LATAM team to request the seat assignment at no cost.


We remind you that when the service is mandatory (for ages between 8 and 11 years), the ticket is issued only after the UM service is confirmed.


In case there is no availability of the service for the date issued, the travel agent should contact their Agency Support Executive.
