This section explains LATAM’s rules for checked baggage, including weight, size, and applicable restrictions. Items must comply with operational limits and may incur extra charges depending on fare type and destination. For complete details, visit Checked baggage on LATAM.com |
Find out how much checked baggage the customer has available according to the ticket, which will depend on several factors, such as the route, fare, and cabin in which they are traveling.
If an agency needs to purchase additional baggage in a fare that already includes baggage, it is essential to consider the following:
For example, if the customer has one bag included and wants to take another, the agency must choose the option for the second bag, since the first one is part of the original fare.
For LATAM-operated flights*, each passenger may check up to 10 bags in total. This limit includes baggage included in the fare, additional purchased pieces, and any extra baggage allowances granted through the LATAM Pass program or partner credit cards.
* Exception – Quito ⇄ Miami route:
Due to operational capacity, the following limits apply per passenger:
Passengers eligible for additional checked baggage at no cost through LATAM Pass Black Signature, Black, or Platinum membership will continue to receive this benefit — it will not count toward the maximum limit for this route.
The same applies to extra baggage allowances granted via LATAM Pass–affiliated credit cards.
Special baggage (e.g., bicycles, musical instruments) and assistive equipment (e.g., wheelchairs, walkers) are not included in the maximum checked baggage count.
