AIRPORT - Exceptions to the mandatory use of protective masks on board LATAM flights
Description: |
This is to inform that those passengers allowed to travel without a protective face mask, as informed on May 7 in “Use of protective masks on board LATAM flights”, must obtain a “Medical Support” to authorize this exception.
Also, the item Lung Pathologies has been added: diseases that require oxygen supplementation in flight or may be worsened in flight due to the use of the protective mask.
No passenger may board the plane without a mask or without its proper use, except infants 0-2 years and there will be more flexibility in the case of minors between the ages of 2-11 years. |
Scope: |
All flights operated by LATAM |
Implementation date: |
July 06, 2020 |
Considerations: |
In line with the above, the following passengers may be exempt from the obligation to wear a mask on board, provided a Medical Support is presented: - Passengers with cognitive disorders (Down and Asperger syndromes, autism, etc.). - Passengers with obvious intellectual deficiency, - Passengers with a mental pathology that may result in decompensation in flight (schizophrenia, acute panic attack, etc.). - Lung pathologies: (diseases that require oxygen supplementation in flight or may be worsened in flight due to the use of the protective mask).
Please remember: - The procedure applies to all LATAM routes - If possible, the medical certificate must be submitted at least 48 hours prior to flight departure. If the certificate is submitted less than 48 hours, we cannot guarantee a timely response from the medical department authorizing travel. - At the time of check-in, the passenger must present the medical certificate or MEDIF received via email together with the authorization sent by LATAM. - LATAM does not provide any medical assistance whatsoever. All other considerations regarding “medical support” remain unchanged. For details, click here. |
