Description:

Please be advised that an Emotional Assistance Animal (ESAN) limit of 6 cats and 6 dogs per flight is set, and potentially dangerous dog breeds are prohibited on flights to/from and within Colombia.

Scope:

SSR ESAN on flights to/from and within Colombia

Considerations: 

The new conditions for acceptance of SSR ESAN on flights to/from and within Colombia are:

• Limitation of the amount of ESAN according to:

·       6 dogs as ESAN

·       6 cats as ESAN (inside a kennel)

• Only requests with previously booked and confirmed service will be accepted for boarding at the airport. No requests will be accepted at the airport. 

• Every ESAN service must contain a free text with the following information (dependiendo del tipo de animal):

- Type of animal, weight, breed, age. In case of CATS include kennel details (kennel type and measurements: Length x Width x Height). Example:

SSR ESAN - DOG 9 KG BEAGLE 3 YEARS 

SSR ESAN - CAT 4 KG SIAMESE 1 YEAR SOFT 36X33X23CMS

Transportation of CATS as ESAN (only to/from and within Colombia):

• When there are requests to transport cats, the PETC request code should no longer be used, only the ESAN code. Cats must necessarily go in transport crates as defined for them.

• Cats traveling in kennels  exceeding the maximum dimensions under seat (according to the container type) must travel as AVIH, free of charge, meeting all transport requirements.

Transportation of DOGS as NESAN (to/from and within Colombia):

• Remember that dogs must be placed at the passenger's feet or under the front seat. In all these cases, the dog must not exceed the passenger space, nor block the aisles for safety reasons. 

• For safety reasons, emotional support animals that exceed the size available in their seat, which is 23cm x 44cm x 50cm (Length x Width x Height), will be denied boarding as ESAN, but, according to availability, we can transport them as AVIH, free of charge, as long as all the requirements for this service are fulfilled.

• The special services team evaluates the request from the ESAN and, when it cannot be confirmed due to quantity, type or size limits, will offer kennel transport as AVIH (provided it meets these requirements) as a travel alternative. The PNR will be worked on by the SSEE team who will insert:

§  An OSI: "LARGE ESAN TRAVELING AS AVIH".

§  An AVIH SSR with details (type, weight, etc.) and confirmed (HK/KK) for visibility when boarding at the Airport.

• Acceptance of ESAN (dogs) that are considered potentially dangerous dog breeds according to the list is prohibited.

• The rules that apply to PETC's do not change.

Services confirmed for flights until March 12, 2023 will be guaranteed boarding even if the maximum number allowed is exceeded during the transition period.
