BAGGAGE - Restriction of liquids, gels and aerosols as carry-on baggage at all airports in Brazil

Applicable to:

All sales channels

Effective June 1, 2020, all Brazilian airports will restrict the carriage of liquids, gels and aerosols in the carry-on baggage of passengers with international connections, including any such items purchased at duty free shops at previous airports that do not meet the requirements listed under Considerations.

Passengers connecting internationally at Guarulhos Airport (GRU).

Implementation date:

June 01, 2020

The transportation of liquids, gels or aerosols is subject to the following restrictions:

1.    Liquids, gels and aerosols must be placed in containers no larger than 3.4 oz or 100 ml.

2.    These containers must be placed in a clear resealable plastic bag with a maximum capacity of 1 liter.

Passengers exceeding the maximum permitted will not be allowed past the security checkpoint until the products are placed in their checked baggage or otherwise retained and discarded by airport authorities.

Please remember that all airports in Brazil control the carriage of liquids, gels and aerosols as carry-on baggage. Therefore, all passengers boarding locally must also comply with the regulation, which is enforced at the security checkpoints (AVSEC).

All liquids, gels or aerosols purchased within the sterile area of the GRU airport may be carried onboard without restriction.

Exceptions to the rule are medications with their respective medical prescription, baby food and special diet food to be used during the flight, which must be controlled anyway during the security check.
