SERVICE ANIMALS - New restrictions for the acceptance of Emotional Support Animals (ESAN) on the Mexico route

Description:

The number of emotional support animals (ESAN) has been limited to a maximum of 6 dogs per flight and all potentially dangerous dog breeds have been prohibited on flights to/from Mexico.

Scope:

Emotional Support Animals (ESAN) service

Date of Implementation:

Immediate

Considerations

When booking an ESAN service, please consider the following new conditions:

  • The number of emotional support animals in the cabin has been restricted to a maximum of 6 dogs.

  • ESAN considered potentially dangerous dog breeds will not be accepted, as indicated in the following list.

  • Only those bookings with a previously reserved and confirmed service will be accepted for boarding at the airport.

Additional considerations for all routes offering this service (MEX/CO)

  • Once in the aircraft cabin, the dog must travel in the space under the passenger's legs or under the seat in front of them only. ESAN can no longer travel on the passenger’s lap, regardless of their size.

Tickets with an ESAN service confirmed before June 22, 2023 will be honored and the dog will be boarded according to the conditions valid at the time of confirmation

With these new definitions, the ESAN service now has standard application and restriction conditions on all routes where it is currently available

All other restrictions regarding this service remain unchanged.
