Sales | Fares

This chapter describes the use and interpretation procedures related to fares according to the policies defined by LATAM.

There are 2 types of published fares:

    Fares

    Description

    Sales through LATAM

    IATA

Fares published by the industry and agreed upon during traffic conferences that may be sold by all IATA carriers.

All IATA and "CARRIER" fares displayed in an itinerary can be sold only when LATAM participates in the itinerary and there is no published LATAM fare for the origin-destination. All regulations must be observed and tickets may only be issued for carriers with which an interline agreement (MITA) is in place.

    CARRIER

Specific fares published by a particular carrier, which usually limit sales to this carrier.

    Considerations:

    a) Airport and Sales taxes

The fares published or calculated for a certain itinerary do not include Airport or Sales taxes associated to the passenger's itinerary.

As a company policy, all taxes, charges and fees that are included when making an automatic pricing will be charged at the time of issuance.

Not all taxes can be collected at the time of issuance, as this depends on legal definitions of the country that imposes the tax as the country in which the ticket is issued.

    b) Surcharges

There are certain charges specified in the fare build-up of taxes related to fuel, safety, etc., which are applied to particular routes.

They are identified by the letter "Q" and broken down in the fare build-up after the amounts related to fare checking.

Since these surcharges are part of the fare construction, they are commissionable to Travel Agencies on certain markets.

Fares with wrong calculation or that does not comply with the regulations at the time of the issuance will generate fines or ADM to travel agencies. No extra charges will be collected through passengers at the check in if the ticket has not been modified (reissued, endorsed, etc). If it has, any difference will be collected.

New: With the launch of the new NDC by LATAM platform, starting on May 1st, 2023, the Distribution Cost Recovery Fee (DCRF) of USD 13.00 per segment on LATAM reservations generated through GDS (agencies) will begin to be applied. This fee is non-commissionable and non-refundable, except in cases of involuntary change/cancellation or by Law of Withdrawal, in the countries where it applies. Further details are available in the NDC by LATAM section here on LATAM Trade.

All domestic and international LATAM routes are sold under the Branded Fares concept.

Selling by Branded Fares allows to passengers to choose if they require a ticket that has certain benefits incorporated (attributes). However, if a passenger does not acquire it in his purchase, s/he may do so later, this being an additional and optional service to the purchase of his air ticket.

These are special fares created by the company to be viewed and sold by specific Travel Agencies and/or specific operators.

Independently of the private fares that exist in each market, it should be taken into account that any fare issued with account code is also considered a private fare.

Consider that in Colombia, private fares are available only for sales in conjunction with land programs.

    Example of a private fare:

LATAM Airpass (SAA): is a private fare product for non-South American residents, that it is not required the possession of a LATAM international ticket, (*) except for some POS and classes of service.

For those POS or classes that require the possession of LATAM international ticket, the must comply with the following:

In the Endorsements/Restrictions field for ticket issues of LATAM Airpass (SAA) must include the correct LATAM ticket number of the Long Haul trip. Example: NONEND NONREF CHG FEE APPLIES CONX 0451233089775

Therefore, if the Long Haul ticket number is omitted or if it is incorrectly entered, it will be considered an irregularity.

(*) For more details on, LATAM Airpass (SAA) regulations, check directly in your distribution system with the Account Code: SAA.

To learn more about how to issue SAA fares through NDC by LATAM, please refer to the 'NDC by LATAM Considerations' section at the bottom of this page.

For details on, LATAM Airpass (SAA)   fare for "Tour Guides" that applies to sales in Germany (DE), the United Kingdom (UK) and specific Australian agencies, click here.

There are discounts associated with minors by industry standard, according to their age.

    More details in chapter Minors.

When booking flights through NDC by LATAM, agents won't need to worry about farebasis or booking classes. All you need to do is select the fare profile/brand, whether it's public or private.

LATAM sells all its routes using the Branded Fares concept, allowing passengers to choose tickets with certain benefits.

    LATAM South American Airpass (SAA)

In cases where the private LATAM Airpass applies, the ticket must be issued through the NDC Portal using the specific account code. If it is mandatory to include a long-haul ticket, please click here to access the step-by-step guide for this process.
